Eyes Wide Open: The Eyelift
Eyelids are complex. Sometimes they droop. Sometimes the muscles around the eyes (peri-ocular muscles) are lax or contracted. Sometimes there’s excess and protruding eyelid fat, generally most noticeable below the eye. Sometimes, there’s a loss of fat creating hollows. Surgery addresses all these things. In the right hands, blaspharoplasty (eye lift) can open the your eyes to the world.
Tampa’s renowned board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Bart Rademaker, brings his own artist’s eye and sure surgeon’s hand to this delicate and expressive feature.
Wherever there is excess skin, usually most obvious in the upper eyelid, Dr. Rademaker will remove it. It’s especially important when there’s so much eyelid skin that it extends over the eyelid margin (hooding) and in some cases can compromise vision. Simply excising the skin will take care of the entire problem.
A surfeit of fat below the eye is removed, hollows are filled.
Weak muscles are tightened and shortened using a variety of techniques Dr. Rademaker has perfected over his years of practice.
However, when there are more complicated cases involving contracted muscles, Dr. Rademaker always recommends treatments with an eye surgeon who specializes in this type of problem.
